Introduction |
|
With the ever changing business environment, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep track of the development in the different business areas. Every functional head has his/her own feel and perception of the market based on his/her own experience and encounter on ground. It is so critical for functional heads to keep abreast of the latest business development so that they can confidently steer the company towards a specific goal with an optimal amount of resources. Budgeting is an excellent way of finding out the optimism of the market as the business function heads put down their estimates for the new year. Although the number may not materialize as the business environment changes, the budgeted numbers serve as a valuable benchmark for the company to navigate itself through good times and bad times. |

Course Objectives |
|
1. To equip participants who are new to budgeting with an efficient and accurate approach to budgeting using Excel.
2. Using just formulas and readily available functions in Excel, participants will learn how they could manage their budget confidently and consolidate the budget submission.
3. Through this approach, participants will be able to increase the frequency of budgeting / forecasting from annual basis to monthly basis with minimal increase in resources.
4. Participants will learn how to avoid the pitfalls of linking multiple files and worry about broken links between workbooks. Cutting and pasting of rows of records are also kept to a minimum.

Course Outline |
|
1. How to align the headers and sub-headers with the data input using existing formulas in Excel.
2. Transform the data input into a Data Cluster
3. Analyze the business units numbers using the data cluster and pivot table, a powerful analytic tool in Excel
4. Combine the Data Clusters into a Data Hub so that company’s budget can be presented in minutes without spending more money on new programs and hardware
5. Analyze the budget at all levels. Participants will learn how to use the report to drill down to the most level easily.
6. Prepare Dashboard, summary reports and charts using the Data Hub, the only single source of data for all.

Jason Khoo is the author of “Excel Secrets for Highly Effective Marketers” and founder and chief trainer of a self-established company which has successfully differentiated itself by offering Microsoft® Excel Courses that empower participants with knowledge of applying the different functions and formulas in Excel to real business needs and scenarios.
An expert in spreadsheets and databases, Jason also founded a consultancy firm which has helped many companies extract valuable information from databases using Microsoft® Excel and save significant amount of money by providing solutions using just existing PC applications such as MS Excel.
Spanning the gamut of large, medium and small companies in a myriad of different industries, his clients include multi-nationals corporations such as Discovery Asia, 3M, NCS, Cold Storage, Timberland, etc.
Prior to setting up his businesses, Jason has worked in local listed companies and foreign MNCs supporting the marketers in their analysis of marketing plans and providing quality information for business strategic planning and decision-making. He was also a financial counsel for a business unit in a Fortune 500 company which generated a total revenue of more than S$100 million per annum. |
